How it works

  1. Tell us about your home

Floors, door sills, the gap under your furniture, budget and a few more. Skip what you don’t know.

  2. We check the makers’ figures

Each answer is matched against the maker’s published specs, such as rated door sills, height and rug lifting. Stars show how many of your must-haves a robot meets; a figure the maker doesn’t publish counts half, never as a fit. Robots with the same stars are listed by what a sale pays us.

  3. Buy at the store

Each robot has one button, to its maker’s store or to Amazon, next to the maker’s store price and the day we checked it. Each of those buttons pays us a commission if you buy; your price stays the same.

Questions people ask

Are robot vacuums worth it?

Yes, as a daily maintenance cleaner. A robot that runs every other day keeps floors tidier between deep cleans, but it won’t pull dirt out of deep carpet the way an upright or canister vacuum does.

Wirecutter; Consumer Reports, updated Aug 28, 2026.

What goes wrong with robot vacuums most often?

Hair wrapped around the brush. In Consumer Reports’ member surveys, 36% of robot vacuum owners reported it, ahead of battery problems at 21% and clogs at 15%.

Are robot vacuum and mop combos worth it?

For mostly hard floors that you’d like mopped often, yes. For mostly carpet, a vacuum-only robot usually cleans carpet better and has fewer parts to fail.
